Basketball Recap: Veritas Christian Academy Warriors vs. Bethel Christian Academy Crusaders
The Veritas Christian Academy Warriors had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They strolled past Bethel Christian Academy with points to spare, taking the game 42-26. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Veritas Christian Academy also won the last time the pair played last Tuesday.
Veritas Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Aunica Tomlinson, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tomlinson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Sloan Nichols, who scored six points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Veritas Christian Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Bethel Christian Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Veritas Christian Academy will face off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy is on a five-game streak of home wins, the Warriors a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Bethel Christian Academy, they and the Raptors will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lake Lure Classical Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last ten games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
