Baseball Recap: Hastings Drops Highest Score of Season Against Bronxville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hastings). They put the hurt on the Bronxville Broncos with a sharp 14-7 victory on Thursday. With that win, the Yellow Jackets brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Hastings got a great performance from Nathan Krapf as he struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Krapf has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kieran McGrath was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Corbo, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Hastings always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory got Hastings back to even at 3-3. As for Bronxville, they dropped their record down to 1-1 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Hastings will head out on the road to challenge Pawling at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Bronxville, they will welcome Edgemont at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
