Basketball Recap: Spotswood Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Spotswood waltzed into their game on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They strolled past the Metuchen Bulldogs with points to spare, taking the game 61-43. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Chargers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 288th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 118th).

Metuchen's loss came despite strong showings from Cameron Hayes-Durina and Danny Galligan. Hayes-Durina dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards, while Galligan posted 12 points. Colin Gawronski also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Spotswood is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.4 points per game. As for Metuchen, they moved to 10-3 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spotswood will head out to challenge Kennedy Memorial at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Metuchen, they will take on South River at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Metuchen is facing South River at the right time seeing as South River is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
