Softball Recap: Cypress Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Victory

Cypress put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Irvine Vaqueros. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Centurions also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Alexis 'Chach' Stamper looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Makayla Bishop, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Taylor Bishop, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Cypress hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Irvine struck out seven times.

Cypress pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Irvine, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Cypress will be taking part in a tournament against Coronado at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Irvine, they will square off against El Toro at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
