Softball Game Preview: Harrison Central Red Rebels vs. Pearl Pirates

The Harrison Central Red Rebels will challenge the Pearl Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Harrison Central's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Pearl's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Saturday, Harrison Central didn't have quite enough to beat Pearl River Central and fell 4-2. The Red Rebels haven't had much luck with the Blue Devils recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Harrison Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kassidy Paris, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Meanwhile, while Pearl put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Meridian. The Pirates were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Wildcats. The Pirates have beaten the Wildcats the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wildcats has come to flipping the script.

Ainsley Roberts made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shiloh Wells, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Lauryn Lee, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Pearl was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Pearl's victory bumped their record up to 15-11. As for Harrison Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-16.
