Basketball Recap: Legacy Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Legacy Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 44-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Laton Mustangs. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-53 back in January.

Laton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaythan Garcia, who posted 15 points and five steals. Garcia is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last five games he's played. Yann Jimenez was another key player, putting up seven points along with 11 rebounds and six assists.

Legacy Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Laton, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Legacy Christian Academy will take on Riverdale Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Laton, they will square off against Kings Christian at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Kings Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Laton likes a good challenge.
