Basketball Recap: Tri-County North's Winning Streak Snapped at Seven Games

If Tri-County North was feeling good fresh off their 76-52 takedown of Stivers School for the Arts last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tri-County North Panthers lost 61-41 to the Newton Local Indians on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Panthers have suffered since December 12, 2024.

Bella Cherry and Grace Hemp certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Cherry posted 19 points and six steals, while Hemp had seven points and six rebounds. Cherry's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Tri-County North moved to 8-7 with that loss, which also ended their seven-game winning streak. As for Newton Local, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Tri-County North has already played their next contest, a 55-20 win against Belmont on the 25th. As for Newton Local, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 51-20 victory against Emmanuel Christian Academy on the 25th.
