Recap: Capital Christian Cougars vs. Sacramento Dragons
The Capital Christian Cougars fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Sacramento Dragons on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 46-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dragons. Capital Christian gained 204 more yards on the day, but it was Sacramento that made the best of use of them.
When it comes to explaining why Capital Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Malakai Taione. Despite the final result, he rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns. Taione was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards. Another player making a difference was Titus White, who picked up 121 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Lamar Radcliffe went supernova for Sacramento, rushing for 160 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries.
Capital Christian's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.2 points per game. As for Sacramento, the victory was the third in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 3-6.
Capital Christian will head out on the road to face off against San Marin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. San Marin has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 293 points over their last six matchups. As for Sacramento, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Rio Americano at 1:00 p.m.
