Basketball Recap: Haymann Milton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Independence over Metairie Park Country Day

Independence lost against Metairie Park Country Day on Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Independence Tigers might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 73-40 to the Metairie Park Country Day Cajuns, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 195th, while the Cajuns are ranked 19th).

Independence's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Haymann Milton, who posted 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kordell Hines, who earned 11 points.

Independence's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 19-19. As for Metairie Park Country Day, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-8 record this season.

Independence does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Metairie Park Country Day, they will square off against Catholic - N.I. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Catholic - N.I. sitting on four straight victories and Metairie Park Country Day on six.
