Softball Recap: Conemaugh Township Indians vs. Homer-Center Wildcats
Conemaugh Township had lost 16 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 0-14 to make it 17. They lost 19-0 to the Homer-Center Wildcats. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.
As for Homer-Center, they now have a winning record of 6-5. Considering they have won four matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
For Homer-Center's part, Bekah Marshall was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. Marshall was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Madison Brendlinger was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava King, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Coming up, Conemaugh Township will be playing in front of their home fans against United at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Homer-Center does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
