Baseball Recap: South Iredell Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but South Iredell ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the A.L. Brown Wonders 7-6. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 6-5 victory the Wonders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Brendan Blankenship looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Reid Johnson, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Tanner Byrd was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

South Iredell's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-5. As for A.L. Brown, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.

South Iredell didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-1 victory against Forbush on the 9th. As for A.L. Brown, they have also already played their next matchup, a 6-5 loss against Concord on the 9th.
