Hawkinsville's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 56-38 victory over the Wheeler County Bulldogs. The Red Devils' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Hawkinsville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alicia Newman out in front who went 7 for 15 on her way to 17 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyla Slocumb, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 13 points and three steals.

Hawkinsville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

When it comes to explaining why Wheeler County lost, don't look at Nikita James. Despite the final result, she posted 13 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. That was a full 34.2% of Wheeler County's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Justise Dubose, who had four points and ten rebounds.

Hawkinsville's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-9. As for Wheeler County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Hawkinsville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 38-36 defeat against Dooly County on the 11th. As for Wheeler County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 64-35 loss against Telfair County on the 11th.
