Basketball Recap: East Mountain Timberwolves vs. Cottonwood Classical Prep Coyotes

East Mountain fought the good fight in their overtime game against Cottonwood Classical Prep on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 66-57 to the Cottonwood Classical Prep Coyotes. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Coyotes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 48-45 on February 1st.

Despite the loss, East Mountain saw an underclassman step up: freshman Evelyn Kannolt posted 26 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Those 26 points gave Kannolt a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jodie Tillman, who earned 15 points.

Cottonwood Classical Prep found their leader in sophomore Ryah Carlson, who had 27 points. Carlson has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Abby Dyer was another key player, putting up ten points.

East Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Cottonwood Classical Prep, their win bumped their record up to 7-19.

Looking ahead, East Mountain will face off against Cuba at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cuba has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 203 points over their last three contests. Cottonwood Classical Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
