Basketball Recap: Dayton Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Dayton won the last time they faced Jefferson and things went their way on Monday too. The Dayton Pirates blew past the Jefferson Lions 81-58. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Lions are ranked 201st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dayton is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.5 points per game. As for Jefferson, they moved to 5-7 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Dayton will square off against Amity at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd. As for Jefferson, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-38 loss against Taft on the 15th.
