Independence got themselves on the board against Osbourn Park on Friday, but Osbourn Park never followed suit. They breezed past the Yellowjackets to the tune of 35-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Independence's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Osbourn Park is ranked 245th).
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Chase Alvarez and Trent Stewart. Alvarez gained 45 total yards and three touchdowns while Stewart rushed for 104 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries. Robert Kellen helped out on the ground, rushing for 83 yards.
Independence was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 287 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Osbourn Park only rushed for 74.
Independence didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Julian Turpin and Nolan Klees. Another thorn in Osbourn Park's side was Marcus Crivelli, who picked up two sacks and made five total tackles.
Independence has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. The Eagles' defense has only allowed 12.3 points per game this season, so the Yellowjackets' offense will have their work cut out for them.
