Volleyball Recap: Fremd Vikings vs. Lake Zurich Bears

Fremd had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They won by a set and slipped past the Lake Zurich Bears 2-1. The win was nothing new for the Vikings as they're now sitting on 17 straight.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Fremd who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 19-25, 25-21.

Despite the defeat, Lake Zurich saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ella Elsen had ten digs and three aces. That's the most aces Elsen has posted since back in September.

Fremd has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 24 of their last 25 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 31-6 record this season. As for Lake Zurich, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-18 record this season.

As of now, neither Fremd nor Lake Zurich have any future games scheduled.
