Baseball Recap: Highland Victorious

Highland put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Saturday. They didn't even let the Delano Tigers on the board, marking the Scots' second-straight 16-0 shutout. Fans of the Scots have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Anthony Garza was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Richard Gutierrez was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Highland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .792. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .556 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Highland's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Delano, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highland will take on West in a tournament on Monday. As for Delano, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Del Oro at 11:00 a.m. The Suns have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.25 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
