Huntsville and Grissom are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Panthers will venture away from home to face off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Last Monday, Huntsville made easy work of St. John Paul II and carried off a 16-6 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Truitt Taylor looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Huntsville let Wyatt Howell and Landon Scott run wild. Howell went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, four RBI, and one run, while Scott went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three doubles gave Howell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Ruffing, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Huntsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Grissom came tearing into Saturday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Aggies a 7-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Grissom pushed their record up to 23-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Huntsville, their record is now 16-18.

Huntsville suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to Grissom in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
