Basketball Recap: Chelsea's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Chelsea had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They strolled past the Spain Park Jaguars with points to spare, taking the game 48-34. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Jaguars are ranked 194th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Spain Park's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ava Leonard, who posted 11 points, and Tori Flournoy, who scored ten points. What's more, Flournoy also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in November of 2024.

Chelsea's win bumped their record up to 15-7. As for Spain Park, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-12.

Chelsea wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 43-20 victory against Helena on the 14th. Spain Park has also already played their next match, a 41-26 loss against Pelham on the 14th.
