Softball Recap: Gooding Takes Down Ranked Kimberly

Gooding faced Kimberly in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Senators put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 12-1 win. The Senators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by eight runs or more this season.

Kaylee Silver made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Silver was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Scottlyn Martin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Emma Day was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Gooding kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive matchups.

Gooding has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Kimberly, with the loss, they broke their 14-game winning streak and moved their record to 21-2.

Coming up, Gooding will challenge Teton at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Timberwolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.58 runs per game on average), something the Senators will no doubt try to take advantage of. Kimberly does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
