Basketball Game Preview: Winona Wildcats vs. Elysian Fields Yellowjackets

The Winona Wildcats will take on the Elysian Fields Yellowjackets in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Winona has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with four straight defeats, while Elysian Fields will come in with three straight victories.

Winona saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a blow against Pittsburg, falling 67-36. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1328th, while the Pirates are ranked 345th).

Meanwhile, Elysian Fields was able to grind out a solid win over Corrigan-Camden on Saturday, taking the game 45-38.

Elysian Fields' win came from a few key players Winona will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brandon Kennedy, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamarion Johnson, who earned 12 points.

Winona's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Elysian Fields, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
