Softball Game Preview: Bluffton Bobcats vs. Colleton County Cougars + Official Tickets

Bluffton is 1-9 against Colleton County since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Bobcats will face off against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Thursday, Bluffton didn't have quite enough to beat Beaufort and fell 9-8.

Meanwhile, Colleton County wound up with the same score they had in their last game (10-6), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. They have struggled against the Sharks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Breanna Gerard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and seven unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Alexa Eversole was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to triples, as she's now hit at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Xiomara Oxner, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Bluffton's record is now 4-7. As for Colleton County, their record now sits at 9-8.

Bluffton suffered a grim 14-7 defeat to Colleton County in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Bobcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
