Rancho Verde hasn't had much luck against Canyon Springs recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Rancho Verde will face off against Canyon Springs at 3:15 p.m. Rancho Verde is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Canyon Springs will be up against a hot Rancho Verde team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Rancho Verde walked away with a 9-5 victory over Vista del Lago on Thursday. While the Mustangs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-15-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Markus Villalvazo looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February.

On the hitting side, Jacob Cabral was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Gabe Flores also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Rancho Verde hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vista del Lago struck out ten times.

Meanwhile, Canyon Springs posted their closest win since March 4th on Wednesday. They skirted past Ramona 3-1.

Colin Carrillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Canyon Springs' victory was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ayden Wimsatt, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Rancho Verde's record now sits at 8-5. As for Canyon Springs, their record is now 6-8.

Rancho Verde couldn't quite get it done against Canyon Springs in their previous meeting back in April of 2018 as they fell 7-3. Can Rancho Verde avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
