Softball Game Preview: Leominster Blue Devils vs. Notre Dame Academy Rebels

The Leominster Blue Devils will face off against the Notre Dame Academy Rebels at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

On Tuesday, Leominster came up short against Wachusett Regional and fell 9-4. The Blue Devils have struggled against the Mountaineers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Notre Dame Academy and Doherty Memorial meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Rebels fell just short of the Highlanders by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Rebels have suffered since April 24, 2024.

Notre Dame Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Spaulding, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Notre Dame Academy's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-4. As for Leominster, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.

Leominster beat Notre Dame Academy 6-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rebels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
