Volleyball Recap: Gilbert Tigers vs. Highland Hawks

Gilbert was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They came up short against the Highland Hawks, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in April.

Gilbert took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-7, 25-13, 25-14.

Zane Long paced Gilbert's offense, picking up four kills. Long got some help from Brandon Bui and his ten assists. Long was also a major player on defense: he and Dean Smith shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with two each.

Gilbert's defeat dropped their record down to 7-20. As for Highland, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-9-1 record this season.
