Suggested Video

The Northwestern Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Greenville Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Northwestern beat Conneaut Area 26-21. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Northwestern's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brody Bickenhouser led the charge by rushing for 162 yards on only 14 carries, while also picking up 46 receiving yards and a touchdown. Reese Gonzales did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 162 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, Greenville came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Mustangs 49-13 on the road. With the Trojans ahead 49-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Greenville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nick Solderich, who rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, and also threw for 43 yards and a touchdown. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 64 yards. Another player making a difference was Rudy Gentile, who rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries.

Greenville's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged three passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Justin Schell and Solderich. The dominant performance gave Solderich a new career-high in rushing yards.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Greenville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 255 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 161 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.

Northwestern's record now sits at 2-3. As for Greenville, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Northwestern came up short against Greenville when the teams last played back in November of 2019, falling 14-10. Thankfully for Northwestern, Isaac Sasala (who rushed for 86 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 57 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
