Basketball Recap: Westwood Christian Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Westwood Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top against the Southwest Eagles by a score of 44-34 on Monday. The 44-point effort marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Westwood Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jason Martinez out in front who posted 17 points and three blocks. Martinez's big performance that evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Zamari Dewberry, who earned 12 points along with five assists and three steals.

Westwood Christian pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 64.0 points this season. As for Southwest, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.
