Softball Recap: Irvin Takes a Loss

After flying high against Loretto last Thursday, Irvin came back down to earth. The Irvin Rockets came up short against the Chaparral Lobos on Friday, falling 26-10. The Rockets haven't had much luck with the Lobos recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Aleena Flores and Andrea Orrantia did some serious damage despite the final result: Flores scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Orrantia scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. Flores is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hilda Urena, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2.

Even though they lost, Irvin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February of 2024.

Irvin's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Chaparral, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-6 record.

Irvin has already played their next matchup, a 7-0 win against Mountain View on the 1st. As for Chaparral, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-10 defeat against Da Vinci on the 28th.
