Wilby took a three-set defeat the last time they faced off against Kennedy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Eagles on Thursday. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Wilby got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-26, 25-19, 23-25, 28-30, 15-12.

Their offense was headlined by Danielle Pottinger and Evelyn Roca-Raymundo, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Jilianys Ramos-Santiago and her ten assists. Roca-Raymundo was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

Wilby has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-4 record this season. As for Kennedy, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Wilby has already played their next game, a 3-2 win against Derby on the 19th. As for Kennedy, they will be playing at home against Seymour at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
