Basketball Recap: Mayer Takes a Loss

Mayer came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were outmatched by the Mogollon Mustangs and fell 68-23. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-8.

Kindsey Porter was a one-woman wrecking crew for Mogollon as she went 8-for-13 on her way to 18 points and four steals. What's more, Porter also posted a 67% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in November of 2024. Landie Crum was another key player, putting up nine points along with eight boards and three steals.

Mayer has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season. As for Mogollon, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 19-6.

Mayer does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mogollon, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 38-37 victory against Ash Fork on the 7th.
