Football Recap: Byron Center Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Byron Center was the 43-20 winner over East Kentwood when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Bulldogs were outmatched by the Falcons and fell 43-14.

East Kentwood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jesse M. Phillips Jr led the charge by rushing for 69 yards and four TDs, while also throwing for 100 yards on six of ten attempts. Those four rushing touchdowns gave M. Phillips Jr a new career-high. Another pass catcher making a difference was Ahman Edmonds, who gained 200 total yards.

Byron Center's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for East Kentwood, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Byron Center and East Kentwood should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. The Bulldogs (ranked 21st) will meet Hammond Morton (ranked 152nd) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, East Kentwood will take on Jenison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (35 vs. 131).
