The Durham Trojans will take on the Winters Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Durham is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Durham is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against East Nicolaus on Tuesday. They lost 9-1 to the Spartans. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Trojans have suffered since May 20, 2025.
Durham saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ashley Spence, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Winters entered their tilt with Paradise on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Bobcats.
Ava Estepa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Teagan Garcia and Aylin Molina did most of the damage at the plate: Garcia went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Molina went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits Molina has posted since back in May of 2025. Erika Garcia was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Winters was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Paradise only posted a batting average of .125.
Durham's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-8. As for Winters, their win bumped their record up to 12-13.
Durham came out on top in a nail-biter against Winters in their previous matchup last Monday, sneaking past 5-3. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
