Game recap: Imperial's Smith and Stovall run past Southwest

Austyn Smith ran for two touchdowns and Davion Stovall added two as well as Imperial (Calif.) beat Southwest (El Centro, Calif.) 40-0 on Saturday.

The Tigers were up 26-0 at the half after taking the lead on a Chris Carter touchdown pass to DaJon Staton in the first quarter.

Imperial expanded its lead to 34 points entering the fourth quarter. IHS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by Carter to DeJon Wilson.

Carter played well for the Tigers in the victory. The junior quarterback threw two touchdowns. He has now scored three touchdowns on the season.

Imperial had given up an average of 15.8 points prior to the contest. The zero points that the Eagles ended with were well below their average of 10.6 coming into the game.

Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 49-3 win for IHS.



With the win the Tigers extended their winning streak to four games.

Southwest (0-6) goes up against Palo Verde Valley in a Imperial Valley game matchup next week, while Imperial (5-1) locks horns with Brawley also in a Imperial Valley game.
