Basketball Recap: McClain Tigers vs. Zane Trace Pioneers
McClain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 56-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Zane Trace Pioneers. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 532nd, while the Pioneers are ranked 178th).
Zane Trace's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Grady Stewart led the charge by putting up 16 points along with eight boards and three steals. Stewart's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Landen Jarrell, who went 5 for 10 en route to 16 points in addition to six assists and four steals.
McClain's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Zane Trace, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-2.
A feisty cat fight is on tap when the McClain Tigers face off against the Fairfield Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Zane Trace, they will challenge Westfall at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
