            Baseball Recap: Wayne Blue Devils vs. Thurston-Cuming County        
        
		
        
        
            Wayne came tearing into  Tuesday's  matchup with three straight wins  (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Thurston-Cuming County  a   6-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won five games by six  runs or more  so far this season.
Not much got past  Gavin Redden, who gave up just  five  hits to keep Thurston-Cuming County off the board. Redden has been consistent : he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in five consecutive appearances.

 At the plate,  Brodey Munter was  excellent,  going 2-for-3 with three  RBI and one  double. Those  three  RBI gave  him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Drew Reinhardt, who  scored a  run while going 2-for-4.
Wayne's victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Thurston-Cuming County,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 6-3.
 We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Wayne is set to  square off against  their familiar foe Tekamah-Herman  at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Meanwhile, Thurston-Cuming County will  take on  rival Centennial  at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday.
