For the first time this season, Overland will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing at home against the Aurora Central Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Overland took a loss when they played away from home back in March, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed two weeks ago. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Hinkley a 20-0 shutout. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Trailblazers considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Uriel Hernandez was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hernandez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Matthew Jimenez-Solis was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing seven bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Overland is undefeated when Jimenez-Solis posts two or more runs, but 0-5 otherwise. Brayan Ascensio was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
Overland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, Aurora Central made sure to put some runs up on the board against Thornton on Monday. Aurora Central was the clear victor by a 15-4 margin over Thornton. Aurora Central hasn't had any issues with Thornton recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Jorge De Los Santos made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. De Los Santos was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eloy Sifuentes, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Kalai Bentosino, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Overland moved to 3-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Aurora Central, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 3-5.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Overland has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .484. However, it's not like Aurora Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .473. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
