Baseball Game Preview: Marlington Dukes vs. Minerva Lions

For the second straight game, Marlington will face off against Minerva. The Dukes will welcome the Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Marlington is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.

While Marlington's victory against Minerva wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Dukes' pitcher stepped up to hand the Lions a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday. While the Dukes didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The result came thanks to Sam Yoder's shutout, as he gave up just two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

Marlington's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Minerva, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-5 record.
