Baseball Recap: Ste. Genevieve Extends Home Winning Streak to Three

Ste. Genevieve won the last time they faced Sikeston and things went their way on Friday too. The Dragons walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Bulldogs. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Dragons.

Maddox Sutton looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

At the plate, Luke Ferranto was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Ethan Ottens was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Ste. Genevieve hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive matchups.

Ste. Genevieve's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Sikeston, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3.

Looking ahead, Ste. Genevieve will be playing in front of their home fans against Potosi at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dragons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Sikeston, they will face off against Kennett at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
