Softball Recap: Heritage Panthers vs. Bayside Bears
Heritage had lost five straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 4-14 to make it six. They lost 14-4 to the Bayside Bears. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-1 back in March.
Heritage saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amanda Piccione, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Emma Aldana was another, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
As for Bayside, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by ten runs or more this season.
On Bayside's side, NICOLE GARCIA spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Bayside got a massive performance out of LEAH ACKER, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits ACKER has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of HALEIGH CURRY, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Looking ahead, Heritage will take on Sebastian River at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bayside, they will square off against Port St. Lucie at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
