Baseball Game Preview: White Oak Roughnecks vs. Malakoff Tigers

For the second straight game, White Oak will face off against Malakoff. The Roughnecks will challenge the Tigers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. White Oak will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

White Oak is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They put the hurt on Malakoff with a sharp 13-7 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Roughnecks as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Logan Langewisch looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, White Oak let Tyson McKinney and Brady Greenwood run wild. McKinney went 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Greenwood went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. McKinney has become a key player for White Oak: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jaxsen Ludlow, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, one double, and one RBI.

White Oak kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Malakoff only managed four hits.

Malakoff has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-11 record this season. As for White Oak, their victory bumped their record up to 17-8.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. White Oak has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Malakoff struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 strikeouts.
