Recap: New Summerfield Hornets vs. Overton Mustangs
This season hasn't been kind to the New Summerfield Hornets, who are still winless after their 15th match. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 42-17 walloping at the hands of Overton on Thursday. New Summerfield has not had much luck with Overton recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Overton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kayla Nobles, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Jamiya O'neal was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight steals.
New Summerfield's defeat was their seventh straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-15. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.9 points per game. As for Overton, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
Coincidentally, New Summerfield and Overton will both be playing Douglass the next time they take the court. New Summerfield will head out to face Douglass at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while Overton will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
