Softball Recap: Mount Miguel Has No Trouble Against El Cajon Valley

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Helix, Mount Miguel was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over the El Cajon Valley Braves. The high-scoring effort was just what the Matadors needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Gabriella Sanchez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Sanchez was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

In other batting news, Mount Miguel got a massive performance out of Laylah Castro, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Another player making a difference was A Sinsay, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Mount Miguel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. They are 4-2 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Mount Miguel's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for El Cajon Valley, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-11.
