Liberty Preparatory Christian narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Gospel Light Christian 41-39. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Liberty Preparatory Christian has posted yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Liberty Preparatory Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lyla Hammack, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Hessels, who scored seven points.
Several Gospel Light Christian players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brooklyn Miller, who scored ten points along with two blocks. That's the first time this season that Miller posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Ali Phillips, who scored seven points.
The win makes it two in a row for Liberty Preparatory Christian and bumps their season record up to 12-3. As for Gospel Light Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty Preparatory Christian on the road again on Friday and play against Lee Park Prep at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Lee Park Prep is ranked 254th, while Liberty Preparatory Christian is ranked 250th). As for Gospel Light Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Woodland Baptist Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Woodland Baptist Christian and Gospel Light Christian are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
