Softball Recap: Owensboro Catholic Takes a Loss

Owensboro Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Apollo Eagles. That's two games in a row now that the Aces have lost by just one run.

Railey Scott was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Lily Logsdon was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

Owensboro Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Apollo, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Owensboro Catholic will face off against Daviess County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Aces surely won't give up without a fight. As for Apollo, they are taking a road trip to take on Hancock County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hornets have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
