Preview: Northampton County Jaguars vs. Southeast Halifax Trojans
Northampton County is 8-2 against Southeast Halifax since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Northampton County Jaguars will be playing at home against the Southeast Halifax Trojans at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Northampton County has five straight wins, Southeast Halifax has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Wednesday, Northampton County was able to grind out a solid win over Roanoke Rapids, taking the game 45-36.
Northampton County had a senior duo take command as Michaela Hodge dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds and Kashanti Parker scored ten points along with three steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Hodge has scored at least a third of Northampton County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyra Vincent, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Southeast Halifax took a serious blow against North Edgecombe on Tuesday, falling 68-29.
Northampton County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. As for Southeast Halifax, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-16 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Northampton County against Southeast Halifax in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 55-13 victory. With Northampton County ahead 30-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
