Basketball Game Preview: St. Thomas More Sabers vs. Bloomington Central Catholic Saints

St. Thomas More hasn't had much luck against Bloomington Central Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The St. Thomas More Sabers will venture away from home to take on the Bloomington Central Catholic Saints at 7:00 p.m. St. Thomas More will be strutting in after a win while Bloomington Central Catholic will be coming in after a defeat.

St. Thomas More is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by DeLand-Weldon to the tune of 72-28 on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Meanwhile, Bloomington Central Catholic lost to Tolono Unity on the road by a 67-49 margin on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Rockets are ranked 95th).

Bloomington Central Catholic has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season. As for St. Thomas More, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-13 record this season.

Things could have been worse for St. Thomas More, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 49-35 loss to Bloomington Central Catholic in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can St. Thomas More avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
