Recap: Edmund Burke Academy Spartans vs. David Emanuel Academy Eagles
The Edmund Burke Academy Spartans came tearing into Monday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat David Emanuel Academy 66-33 at home. Edmund Burke Academy's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Edmund Burke Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zaylie Baker, who scored 20 points along with nine steals and eight rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Baker has scored at least 25% of Edmund Burke Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braelyn Reeves, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Edmund Burke Academy pushed their record up to 6-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for David Emanuel Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Edmund Burke Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Glascock County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Glascock County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 287th, while Edmund Burke Academy is ranked 92nd). David Emanuel Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against The Habersham School at 5:30 p.m. on December 12th. Hopefully The Habersham School focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 37 on Friday.
