Baseball Recap: Cyprus Makes It 13 in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Cyprus, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Hunter Wolverines a 17-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won seven games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Cyprus got a massive performance out of Reiner Hidalgo, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Hidalgo also hit a triple, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brody Densley, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Cyprus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hunter only posted an OBP of .143.

Cyprus pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Hunter, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Cyprus will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wolverines: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
