Football Game Preview: Mauldin Mavericks vs. Greenville Red Raiders + Official Tickets

The Mauldin Mavericks will head out to challenge the Greenville Red Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mauldin will be strutting in after a victory while Greenville will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Mauldin turned things around against Easley on Friday. They blew past the Green Wave 49-24. That 25 point margin sets a new team best for the Mavericks this season.

Reddick Langston produced another solid effort rushing for 161 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, while also throwing for 211 yards and three TDs on only 18 passes. Those 161 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. 99 of Langston's passing yards were hauled in by Tamari Shepherd, who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mauldin was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 303 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Mauldin didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Devon Wilson and Lucas Hagedorn. Hagedorn also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 16.

Meanwhile, Greenville unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They had to suffer through a 42-14 loss at the hands of Greenwood.

Mauldin will have to contain Kiishawn Farrow as he made an impact in Greenville's last game. He rushed for 56 yards and one score, and also threw for 115 yards and a pair of TDs.

Greenville's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for Mauldin, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-4.

Mauldin was able to grind out a solid victory over Greenville in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 28-17. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mavericks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
