Football Recap: Rock Canyon Comes Up Short

Rock Canyon had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 3-4 to make it four. They lost 35-13 to the Fruita Monument Wildcats. The Jaguars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 21-0.

Although Rock Canyon took the loss, they still got scores from Evan Diebold and Vinny Melville.

As for Fruita Monument, they now have a winning record of 4-3. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

Cooper Rowell was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 110 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries, and also threw for 190 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 passes. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (149.3).

Coming up, Rock Canyon will be playing in front of their home fans against Castle View at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Fruita Monument, they will square off against Mountain Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Golden Eagles have now posted at least 31 points in their last four contests.
